Sinks Canyon
Sinks Canyon is managed by three different land agencies: BLM, Forest Service and the State Park. A leash law exists in State Park boundaries. The main wall from roughly the Scud Area wall all the way to the Camel Jockey wall exists within this boundary. Leash your dogs while hiking and/or climbing routes within State Park boundaries. Dogs chasing other dogs and wildlife is of concern to the State Park authorities. Also, please stay on existing trails. Short cuts and braids/network trails compound erosion problems and are frowned upon. Local climbers have a great relationship with these agencies and wish to keep it as such. Let's police ourselves and not risk losing the routes and walls that exist within the State Park.
Further questions can be answered or attended by calling either:
BLM Lander Field Office(Brandon Thielke): 307-332-8400
Sinks Canyon State Park Office (Darrell Trembly): 307-332-6333
Nothing crazy in the forecast. Sunday will be warmer than Saturday. Rattlesnakes and ticks have been spotted.
JR: 05-10-12
Road closed. Pavement is dry to Worthen turnoff, good for biking this time of year! Past the pavement is still variable drifting. Forest Service will open the road in June typically depending on the spring snow.
et: 05-10-12
Trails are clear on the Middle Fork Trail from Bruce's to the Shoshone Lake Trail intersection. Beyond is still drifted. North facing slopes including from Worthen to Sheep Bridge are heavily drifted. South facing slopes are generally melted out. Look for full access in mid to late June (depending on spring snow pack).
Please call the Bridger Teton Ranger Station at 307-367-4326 or the Washakie/Shoshone Ranger Station at 307-332-5460 for more information.

Baldwin Creek/ Shoshone Lake Road
Road Closed. Road usually opens in June.
Cirque of the Towers/Haystack
Spring conditions. Approach could still require intermittent skiing or snowshoeing at spots. Rock would most likely be wet. Major drifting down to 8000' and snow line is at 9000'.

A beautiful area! Please respect this fragile area and practice Leave No Trace Ethics. Human waste and garbage is a noticeable problem. Pack out waste and garbage. Re Stop bags for human waste are available at the Wild Iris Mountain Sports. If we are not careful we will love this area to death and may not be allowed free use. Don't forget to check out other areas in the Wind River Range.
